Wedgeport Nature Trail
Look for the Big Tuna to Start Walking
The Wedgeport Nature Trail is home to the Tusket River estuary, forests of mixed woods, barrier beach ponds, coastal marshes, sandy and rocky shores, and even a Christmas tree farm. A great location to view dark skies, the Wedgeport Nature Trail also features viewing platforms for taking photos and capturing amazing views. You can even borrow a telescope from the Wedgeport Tuna Museum, located at the start of the trail.
Location: From Yarmouth take Hwy. 3 to Arcadia, turn R onto Hwy. 334 to Wedgeport
Starting Point: End of paved road (Hwy. 334); there are signs indicating the start and end of the trail; parking available
Distance: 5.4 kilometres
Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Description: Loop with a 4-foot-wide Treadway of natural duff to a gravel road; flat, grassy, rocky, wet spots
Attractions: Ocean shore E and W, wetland, muskrat houses, look-off, pebble and sand beaches
Services: None (outhouse not in use)
Route: Trail goes E to shore, alongshore, turn R to the dirt road, cross over, the trail to W shore, alongshore to Wedge Point, ends on same dirt road; return to the parking
